It will be recalled that ‘SAMVAD’ is an initiative of Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) that was borne out of dialogue between the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Objective of the Conference The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), organised a two day conference at the FICCI House, New Delhi on May 24-25, 2017 on the theme, “Homeland Security 2017 – Modernisation of India’s Internal Security Mechanism”

The VIF hosted an internal discussion on ‘Afghanistan: Emerging Realignment’ on 04 May 2017. The purpose was to consider Afghanistan’s dwindling security environment and imperatives for India to hedge its bets against a resurgent Taliban waiting to take over the reins of power in Kabul while the new US administration is yet to firm up its future Afghanistan strategy.
